Let us muse today from Amos 8:4-this section I have entitled a final declaration. In our text today he tells them why the end is coming. The reason was very simple they had broken God’s law. The law involved both a violation against God and wrongly treating of others. They had cheated the poor and sold them wheat mixed with the chaff. It was all done because of their love for money. They also found the Sabbath to be an inconvenience to their business trade. Oh how many today are trying to make money off the poor. Many today use Sunday not as a worship day, but as a catch-up day. It seems like all the symptoms of the sins of our day. How long O Lord, how long ere we hear the glad tidings and the shout Christ returneth, Christ returneth.
