Let us muse today from Amos 7:10-17 were Amos struggles with authorities. The political and religious authorities of that day were the ones that Amos struggled with. In verse 10 Amaziah the priest told the king give no heed to Amos word. He said he was not trust worthy. Amaziah was a false priest. Amaziah told Amos in verses 12 to get out of the area because it was only for the elite and Amos was but a fig picker. In verses 14-17 Amos spake to the priest and king. He told them he was a God called prophet. He told the king judgment was coming. He told the king he would die far from home while in captivity. He told him his son would die and his wife would become a prostitute in order to take care of herself. Amaziah had a position in wealth but Amos had the Word of God. Amaziah served the king of Israel but Amos the King of King. It sure does pay in who and what you know.
