Let us muse again today from Matthew 14:9 and the theme of Jesus the king. In our text for study today we find a wicked promise is kept. Herod went through with the beheading of John the Baptist because of the wicked promise made to his step-daughter. His sorrow spoke of here is the sorrow of the world and not Godly sorrow. If it were Godly sorrow he would’ve not gone through with the wicked act. He was more concerned that he would be perceived as weak by his drinking buddies than to obey the Holy God of heaven.
