Let us muse again today from Matthew 13:19 and the theme of Jesus the king. In our text for today we are reminded of the wayside seed. The word of the kingdom is the gospel. The text says they hear the word with physical ears but there is no understanding. The seed falls on the outward nature but is not received and because of that the devil comes and takes it away. Only our Lord can cause the seed to enter into the nature with a life changing effect. The sovereign God must give understanding or there shall be none.
