Musing Through Matthew-Legalism At It’s Best

Let us muse again today from Matthew 12:1-2 and the theme of Jesus the king. In our text for today we find legalism at it’s best. The Pharisees attack the Lord because His disciples plucked ears of corn on the sabbath because they were hungry. This accounted for  reaping and rubbing the grain from the cob was seen as threshing which were both violation of Jewish law. Why didn’t these Pharisees give to these hungry men food to eat? I wonder if the Pharisee had not broken a greater law by setting a watch on the Sabbath to see if there were any violators. I fear we embarrass Jesus much when we put people under the microscope of our own beliefs. Lord deliver me from this.
