Musing Through Matthew- Leaders Among The Apostles

Let us muse again today from Matthew 10: 2 and the theme of Jesus the king. In our text today we find the beginning list of the apostles with the leaders at the head of the list. It is fitting that the Holy Spirit would name Simon Peter first. He is the one who became a leader among them. His name means a stone and over the years of God working upon him he shall become a solid rock upon which to build. There is also Andrew, Peter’s brother. Is it not amazing when brothers can serve the Lord together. Then there was James and John the sons of thunder. How our Lord did use these two James became an early martyr of the faith while his brother John became Jesus Christ closest disciple and was often found lying on His breast. Oh how our Lord will touch the world with but 12 common men.
