Let us muse again today from Matthew 9:23-24 and the theme of Jesus the King. When Jesus and Jairus arrive at his house they were met with the professional mourners and music makers who were making ready for a funeral. Our Lord steps up on the threshold of the door and cries “give place”. This is a term of one who is exercising authority over the whole house. Somewhere between his first encounter with Jesus and his house Jairus has given Jesus authority over his whole house. Although they laughed at our Lord when He said she is just asleep it did not deter Him from His work of raising her from the dead. May we give him the place of authority at our houses and it may be we shall stand in awe of what He may do.
