Let us muse again today from Matthew 6:12 and a theme of Jesus the King. In our text today our King deals with the prayer of repentance in the words forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors. I see in our text today that true prayer cannot be complete without the prayer of repentance. It is here that our Lord teaches us to pray not only for our individual sins but a prayer of repentance for the sins of others. How often do we pray for forgiveness for the sins of America? Then there is the recognition that I am to offer forgiveness to others even if they have not asked for it. The Lord had paid the price for our sins and offered to us forgiveness long before we asked for it. No one has ever offended us as much as we have offended Him yet He forgave us all.
