Musing Through Matthew- The Errors Of Oath Taking

Let us muse again today from Matthew 5:33-37 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text today our Lord the king deals with the error of oath taking. He tells us here simply not to take an oath but let our words be plainly yes or no. This is very hard in our judicial and governmental system where everyone is swearing I am telling the truth. Let us remember the liar can lie as well under oath or out but God’s holy people should tell the truth no matter the cost and they do not have to have their hand on a Bible or their dead mother’s grave while swearing I am telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.
