Musing Through Matthew- Jesus’s Words On Divorce1

Let us muse today from Matthew 5:31-32 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text today we find Jesus’s words on divorce. He brings up Moses law of giving one a bill of divorce for any reason. Our Lord says here the only grounds for divorce is if the mate has committed fornication. Let us remember that even in these circumstances if the marriage can be saved what a testimony to the grace of God. In the last phrase of verse 32 we are reminded there is no grounds for remarriage even if one had grounds for divorce. Our Lord says if you marry one who is divorced you are committing adultery. Paul says that death of the mate is the only grounds for remarriage in Romans chapter 7.
