Musing Through Matthew-Obedience To The Word

Let us muse again today from Matthew 5:19 and the theme of Jesus the King. Our Lord tells us in our text who would find themselves least and greatest in his kingdom. The one who would find themselves least would be one who breaks a commandment or teachers others by their example. The one who finds himself greatest in the kingdom is not one who just teaches the word but lives the word. I have been reminded of late of those who think they can enter into marriage vow, later on break the vow, get a divorce and think God will wink at it and then let them be great in His kingdom. We cannot teach as examples of Christ and His bride that divorce what He hates and breaking vows which He strongly discourages will rate you a high position in the kingdom. Let us be careful today to not just teach the word but live the word even when keeping it is painful and of great cost.
