Musing Through Matthew-The Fourth Beatitude

Let us muse again today from Matthew 5:6 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text today we find the fourth Beatitude. I am told here that true heavenly happiness will be given to those who hunger and thirst after righteousness. The phrase hunger and thirst or descriptive words used to describe natural desires that must be filled but here He doesn’t speak of a hunger and thirst after food and water. The hunger or thirst is after righteousness. Paul tells us in Corinthians that Christ is made unto us righteous. So one who spends his days here on the earth hungering and thirsting after Christ will have heavenly happiness. They shall have a foretaste of glory divine while here upon this earth. The final reward will be that they shall be filled. At a future time in heaven we shall be filled and continue  to be being filled throughout all eternity with Christ.
