Musing Through Matthew-The Third Beatitude

Let us muse again today from Matthew 5:5 and the theme of Jesus the King. We are looking in these days at the Kingly principles set forth in what is called and the Beatitudes. I find in our text today the third Beatitude. We are told it is the portion of great happiness to the one who is meek. The word literally means lowly minded or to have a low opinion or regard for oneself or the things one can see. They do not place a high value or regard for the temporal things of this world. It is interesting that the commemoration for them is that they shall inherit the earth. They become the heirs of all that God has created. They shall have the best of this world who think the least of it and the least of themselves.
