Musing Through Matthew-Give Us Herod Take Jesus

Let us muse again today from Matthew 2:3 and the theme of Jesus the King. I can understand why Herod would be troubled at the thought of a rival King especially if He had supernatural powers. I am shocked that the Jews, Jerusalem, and the so-called people of God were troubled at the appearance of Messiah the King of the Jews. Man is always troubled at the unknown. Man is troubled at anything that makes life change as he knows it or demands that he make sacrifices of dying to self. We are more willing to give up real spiritual freedom embrace bondage rather than die to our selves. Nothing that places an inconvenience on self could possibly be good, could it?
