Let us muse again today from Isaiah 53:10 and the theme of Isaiah’s Christ and the supplicating Christ. His prayers were birthed out of a mysterious finish. Our text tells us He was bruised by the Father because it gave the Father great delight of pleasure. We are told the Son’s travail on the cross is the word for a woman giving birth to a child. In verses 10 and 11 we see the travailing of His birth produced a seed and He was satisfied. Christ gave birth to a people on the cross. He did not die to make possible my salvation but to make it sure. He did not die hoping someone would get saved but while dying on the cross He had me on His mind and was giving birth to make sure of my new birth. This gives a whole new meaning to the words of the angel to Mary at His birth, when the angel said “call Him Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins”.
