Let us muse again today from John 17:9 and the high priestly prayer. I draw our attention today to the subject of His prayer. For whom is the prayer made? We’re told clearly who it is not for, when our Lord says I pray not for the world. We see clearly it is not a universal prayer the night before He is to die on the cross. He tells us He is praying for those that at one time belonged to the Father and was given as a love gift to the Son. We dealt with this in John 17:2 and found the gift was given when the Father chose a people and place them in the Son before the foundation of the world.( Ephesians 1:4) This is the subject of His prayer.
