Let us muse again today from I Peter 1:6 and Peter’s precious pictures. We are looking at precious trials and an exposition of the types. Peter speaks in our text of trial which are sorrow and heart aches. He also speaks of temptation which is a solicitation by Satan to do evil and says that both are precious. In our text Peter uses two descriptive words which are manifold and heaviness. The word manifold is the word for multiple or many-colored or many-sided. The word heaviness is to come down upon with a heavy hand. In our trials we often feel as if God and His hand or a million miles away. Let me assure us when we are in the midst of a trial His hand is upon us and He is closer than He has ever been.
