Comforting Cause

Let us muse today from II Corinthians 1:8-9 and a section I am calling sailing over life’s stormy seas and the purpose behind all storms. We are looking at multiple causes of God one of which is the comforting cause. In first Corinthians 1 God is called the God of all comfort. We have been told that God will not put any more on us then we can bear but life nor the Bible will bear this out to be true. Paul tells us in the text that God put so much on him that he was pressed beyond measure. It was more than his strength could carry and he wished that he was dead. Why would God put more on us than we can bear? The answer is in verse 10 so that we would not trust ourselves but in God who raises the dead.
