Let us muse today from Malachi 2: 5-7 and a section I have entitled the Lord’s announcement. It is in this section we find God’s covenant. Our Lord reminds the priest of Malachi’s day of the priest of Levi’s day. They were poles apart in comparison. We are told in verses 4-5 the priest of Levi lived under a covenant of reverential fear for God. They lived a word of example in the Lord seen in verse 5 in the phrase the law of truth was in their mouth. They had a walk of example seen in the phrase they walked with God in peace and equity. They also had a witness of example seen in the phrase that they did turn away from their iniquity. In verse seven Malachi told them that they should conduct every area of their life by the word of God. When I look at these admonitions I see how much we fail in being a Christlike in our example to the world.
