Wherein Have We Despised Thy Name?

Let us muse today from Malachi 1:6 and a section I am calling the Lord’s announcement. It is in this verse we have another question from God’s people. It is here that God uses two titles for Himself and they are Father and Master. These are powerful terms that Jesus uses multiple times when talking about God. If He is our father we must take up the position of son if he is our master we must be a servant. The Lord told them that if He was their Father they must honor Him and fear Him if He was their master but instead  He said that they had despised Him. They just shrug it off by saying wherein did we despise You? It was bad enough to be despised by a casual believer but the men of God had despised Him in that day. What great hurt comes to the family of God when a man of God falls in to sin and brings despite to the name of God among the people of God. Preachers let us be on  guard against such sin.
