The Cross Of The King

Let us muse today from Zechariah 11:1-14 and a section I have entitled the cross of the king. In this section the prophet gives a parable about the bad Shepherd of that day and the good Shepherd. In verse seven the good Shepherd has a staff he calls beauty which is our word gracious and a staff he calls bands which is our word for unity. In verse 12 the people tell the good Shepherd he is only worth 30 pieces of silver to the them which is the price of a slave. This is the price Judas was paid to betray the Lord and set up cross. The prophet’s parable of the Shepherd has him breaking the staffs and ceases being gracious and scatters the Jews for they have no more unity
