Let us muse today from Zechariah chapter 7 were the Jews asked the Prophet an interesting question. They had four annual feasts to commemorate recent tragic event’s. Each one of these events were celebrated with a fast. They ask the Lord should they continue these fasts. It would be like us having a fast to remember 911. The Lord ask them did you do it while in captivity? Did you do it for yourself or for me? Our Lord tells them in verses 10-14 that they would be better off to show obedience to Him. They would be better off to show mercy and compassion to the widows, fatherless, and strangers. I fear a lot of what we do in our religious circles is done for us and not for Him.
