Let us muse today from Habakkuk 2:18-20 this section I have entitled the prophet’s awaiting. In this section Habakkuk is given three assignments one of which was to declare the word. Habakkuk has been declaring the word by the use of five woes. Let us look at the fifth woe which is idolatry. Most of us when first confronted with idolatry, would say I don’t have any god’s I have made and bow to. Romans 1:25 gives the clearest definition of idolatry which is the worshiping and serving of the creature instead of the Creator. Idols are often things we put before God in the area of importance. Many would put famous people or social position before the worship of the Lord. Habakkuk closes this section by saying shhhhh, be still God is in His holy temple let us all be silent and listen. My what a declaration of God’s word.
