Let us muse today on the subject of Habakkuk and the prophet and his account of position. His name has two meanings. One of the meanings is to wrestle. It is clear that Habakkuk is a priest who wrestles with God in the realm of prayer. The second name means to embrace. Martin Luther said of a Habakkuk that he clearly embraced the people and carried them to God. It is clear to me that like Jacob of old after he had wrestled with God he finally embraced and clung to the Lord. In the most darkest hours of our life and the life of those we love when it is all said and done all we can do is embrace and cling to the Lord.
