Nahum A Prediction Of A Fall

Let us muse today from Nahum 1:1-2 and the section I have entitled a prediction of a fall. Jonah preached a revival to Nineveh but now Nahum proclaims their ruined. Nahum calls this both a burden and a vision. These two words describe what God had ordained for Nahum to see as well as feel. We have already found that God is in Judah. We now find from Nahum 1:2 that God is jealous. The word often describes a sin of one who is envious over what others possess. It is here that it means to cherish a relationship and seek to protect it. An example would be a husband-and-wife who cherish their relationship and seek to protect it. God cherishes His relationship with His people and has had enough of the Aysrian treatment of them. Let us today cherish our relationship with Christ and protect it from anything that would come between us and Him.
