The Place Of Jonah’s Cry

Let us muse today from the place of Jonah’s cry and Jonah 2:2. The place from which he cried is the belly of hell. In verse three we find he was in the depths with the billows of the sea-going over his head. He said he was cast out of the site and seeing eyes of God. Let us be assured no one else has ever gotten out of hell except this one. I believe there are two reasons for this experience. Gen. Booth said he wished all of his people could be hung out over the brink of hell but for an hour so that they may get a burden for the lost. I find the other reason he goes to hell is to fulfill the gospel picture of Jesus in hell for sinners. No one gets out of hell. The Bible said the rich man lift up his eyes in hell and cried for water. The word lift is in the present tense  and he is still crying over 2000 years later.
