Let us muse today from Jonah 1:17 and the subject of Jonah’s sea. We are told that the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. The word prepared means to appoint, or arrange ahead of time. This particular fish was created to swallow Jonah. Many have said in days gone by that a whale could not swallow a man. The giant sperm whale killed off the Florida keys in 1912 proves this wrong. The whale was 45 foot long, had a 38 inch throat area , and weighed 30,000 pounds. There is also the evidence of a man by the name of James Barclay a whale hunter being swallowed by a whale and several days later being found in the whale’s belly when the whale was killed. He said he could breathe but the heat was almost unbearable. If we didn’t have any of the above evidence it would change nothing, if God said a fish swallowed Jonah that is enough confirmation from me how about you?
