Jonah’s Sleeping

Let us muse today from Jonah 1:5-6 and the subject of Jonah’s sleeping. This storm caused those on board to be afraid. They all began to pray to their pagan gods. I think often of those on TV who are news anchors will often say you are in my prayers. I wonder if they may pray to the gods of their own thinking. In verse five we find while the sailors were making supplication Jonah was asleep in the bottom of the ship. Is not this a picture of today’s church when the world around us is seeking we are in a state of apathy and nodding off. The shipmaster said wake up O sleeper and call upon your God. Jonah’s God was Elohim the creator and the one who had  sent the storm. I wonder if we are in the midst of maybe the fall of our great nation  America, could it be this day we might hear the call awake O sleeper and call upon your God.
