Jonah’s Confusion In Running

Let us muse today from Jonah 1: 3a  and Jonah’s confusion in running from God. God has told Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach the gospel. He boards a ship for  Tarshish.  Nineveh was at the furthest Eastern point of the new world while Tarshish was at the furthest western point of the new world. In verse three we are told that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord. The word presence means the face of God. It is used three times in verse 3 two times and once in verse 10. Three is the number for the Trinity. Can you imagine us trying to get away from the all-knowing, all-seeing eye of the triune God head. The eyes of the Lord are in every place  beholding the evil and good.May we live with the thought that our lives or lived according to the Latin phrase Coram Deo which means before the face of God.
