Let us muse today from Obadiah verses 3-4 an Edom’s progression of pride. In verse three I see that it is a harden pride. God says they have been deceived by their high up place on the mountains. Before the Titanic sank a crew member was overheard telling a passenger who asked the question is this ship unsinkable, he replied God couldn’t sink this ship. This was the harden state of Edom. In 3b I find a halting pride. They were hidden in a rock called Petra. It was not discovered until 1812. It was so high up and so hard to reach a dozen men could withstand an army, but Edom couldn’t withstand God’s attack. In verse four we see a humiliating pride. Edom felt like they could fly as high as Eagle and were set like the stars, but God says you will not humble yourself so I will bring you down in humiliation. Let us walk humbly before our God and resist any signs of pride.
