Seek Good

Let us in muse today from Amos 5:7-15 and how to avoid God’s judgment. We have looked already had hear the word and seek the Lord as  ways to avoid this judgment. I want today to look at a third way that is found in 14a when Amos says, seek good. The good for us would be such things as justice, righteousness, and telling the truth. Instead of good this nation had a corrupt legal system seen in verse seven. They sought to silence the people of God seen in verses 18 and 23. They used the poor to become richer seen in verses 11 and 12. They were full of self which is seen in verses 14 and 15. All of these things are seen in our day. Is it not time for us to do as Peter said, that judgment must begin at the house of God, with the people of God, which involves me taking a look at myself in the mirror of the word of God.
