Let us begin to muse today from Amos 5: 1-15 in a section I have entitled how to avoid God’s judgment. This text is a funeral dirge over the nation where many have died in God’s judgment, but our Lord weaves three great lessons on how to avoid God’s judgment in this text. The first is found in verses 1-3 and it is hear God’s word. Our relationship with our Bible is a picture of our relationship with the Lord. The way we treat God’s man is the way we’re treating the Lord. The writer of Hebrews says, see that you do not refuse him who speaks upon the behalf of the Lord. I believe we are living in an hour when the church has the least personal relationship with the word of God of any time in history.
